Rot protection

Help preserve the structure.

Fungal-decay resistance supports the long-term performance of eligible treated wood within its documented exposure conditions.

Durability begins with good detailing.

Decay fungi and surface mold are different problems. Decay can break down wood over time. Treatment adds resistance to fungal decay, while drainage, flashing and ventilation keep the assembly from holding moisture.

  • Choose a treatment for the actual above-ground exposure.
  • Flash vulnerable connections and keep horizontal surfaces drained.
  • Repair water intrusion and maintain required finishes.
What supports the protection?

The public evaluations document fungal-decay resistance for approved lumber and applications. Exposure limits still apply; resistance to decay does not automatically qualify wood for ground contact or permanent wetting.

What are the limits?

The treatment cannot restore already-decayed wood, fix a leak or replace structural design and maintenance. Exterior-finish requirements must be checked for the selected system.

How do warranties fit in?

Coverage depends on the selected treatment, eligible wood, project records and complete written terms. A warranty is a defined remedy, not a promise that damage can never happen.
